The Role of Laureate Tsegaye Gebremedhin's Selected Artwork in Promoting National Building: Audiences and Artists Perspective in Focus

This research paper explored the significant contribution of Laureate Tsegaye Gebremedhin, (Robba Qawisa) an eminent Ethiopian poet, playwright, essayist, social critic, philologist, historiographer, peace activist, and artistic director, etc., to the promotion of national building through his artwork. Laureate Tsegaye's artistic expressions played a pivotal role in shaping the cultural and national identity of Ethiopia and contributed to social cohesion, unity, and progress. The research employed a qualitative approach, drawn from a range of primary and secondary sources, including interviews with the artist, analysis of his artwork, and scholarly literature on artwork. The study examined the themes, motifs, and narratives presented in Laureate Tsegaye's art. The findings, which fostered a sense of patriotic, national pride, and solidarity among Ethiopians (Ethiopianism Tedrowos II at Mekdela, Petros that the hour, and Awash), contributed to a shared national consciousness, a deeper appreciation of the country's cultural diversity, pan-Africanism (Adwa and Abay) and Global Novel prize compared with William Shakespeare less recognized as Thought of School and Academy. The study investigated Laureate Tsegaye's art, which has served as a platform for social commentary and advocacy and addressed issues such as social justice, human rights, and the preservation of cultural heritage. It analyzed the impact of his work in inspired dialogue, reflection, and action on important societal issues, contributing to developing a more inclusive and cohesive national identity. Laureate Tsegaye utilized art to empower individuals, preserve indigenous knowledge, and foster a sense of collective responsibility toward the advancement of Ethiopian, African, and worldwide society.
